Arch Rival Roller Girls...

... I photographed my first Roller Derby game on 08 Jan 11 in St. Louis, MO.  Caught the St. Louis Arch Rival Roller Girls (ARRG) playing at the All American Sports Mall in South County which featured the Rebel Skate Alliance vs. The M-80s and the Stunt Devils vs. The Smashinistas.

I wanted to give the AARG some photography with a different look than they already had.  On half the pictures I used the 24-70mm f2.8L and for the other half I used the 24mm Tilt-Shift, just to give a different perspective.  On camera 2d curtain flash with a diffuse added just the right amount of light to still convey the action.  I used Aperture 3 to add extra detail and contrast which grundged the images in a good way and added a grittiness to them.  I also added some vignetting to pull the focus in.  Heavily edited but it gave the images a certain look that I think represented the girls nicely.

Roller Derby is thriving in STL and I was amazed at how athletic the entire event was.
The beautiful women were awesome too!

I was very happy with the results!
