Shots from the Hope For The Warriors second annual 'Got Heart, Give Hope Gala and Hope & Courage Awards' taken on 14 Apr 11 at Union Station in Washington, DC honoring the courage of our wounded service members, their families and the families of the fallen.
The Hope & Courage Awards, awarded to honorees who represented outstanding examples of selfless acts of service to our nation and it's military heros, was presented by Gary Sinise and Mr. John Vigiano.

All images were shot with the Canon 5DmkII and the 24-70mm f2.8L lens with a 580EXII flash on camera with a stofen diffuser.
I probably could have used a wider lens to compensate for the crop-in-camera habit I have of cutting off people's feet. When shooting Gala events with beautiful women in dresses it is always good to include their sparkly shoes! I had freedom enough to shoot what I felt needed to be caught to tell the story of the event but it was odd to be shooting while wearing a tux.
It was colourful... AND... humbling to be in the presence of true warriors and those who care about them. It is not every day I get to shoot pictures of wounded Warrior Veterans, Medal of Honor recipients, members of Congress and Gary Sinise.
