I hope this sport takes off in the UK - these ladies were certainly passionate about it. I shot about 1100 pictures with 192 keepers. Good excercise in panning. Some of the photos had blur in two axis, which i could have eliminated with a monopod - lesson learned. The BBDD team took good care of me, picking me up from the train station and getting me back there just in time for the last train back to London. ... i had a two week stay in London so a google search led me to an invite to shoot pictures of the Birmingham Blitz Derby Dames (BBDD), a roller derby team in Birmingham, England. No matter how dangerous these ladies looked, they were all gorgeous (in that tough way).
... I walked through a school gymnasium in the Camden area of London, UK, and saw a kids' school absketball game going on. I have never shot sports before but looking at the kids' faces.. you can tell they love the game, without getting paid millions of dollars to do it.
... London Rockin Rollers. A relatively new team in London. They have so much character, i wish i got to talk to them more. They had a small practice space and some lighting challenges so i was not able to use my camera the way i wanted to.
